Beecroft Ladies Autumn Badge
Saturday the 17th July was the day for preliminary finals but with our position on the top of the ladder a win would give us the grand final! Denise, Dianne, Leila and Val played on the very bouncy courts of Tennis Valley. Leila and Val started well getting 5-0 up against Jane and Celine with Leila then serving to take the first set. It was not to be so easy - we lost the next 5 games and suddenly were faced with a tie breaker. We started to play more steadily, finally getting the first set. We won the next set 6-2. Denise and Dianne also had to dig in for the first set when they were trailing Corrine and Penny 1-4. They eventually won 6-3 and then got the next set 6-4. With 4 sets at the half way mark, we were anxious to hear who was able to secure the next set. Dianne and Denise did this against Celine and Jane which was great for our team. Leila and Val lost their first set against Corrine and Penny but managed to clinch their last set in a tie breaker. It was a fantastic feeling, after more than 3 hours of tennis, to watch the the last ball hit by the opposition sail out of the court. Well done ladies, a convincing win with 7 sets and 45 games against Tennis Valley with 1 set and 31 games.
